About

J-Doc productions is a long form storytelling outlet for UW-Milwaukee’s JMC majors. Students who choose the Journalism/Documentary  concentration are able to participate in professional documentary projects as they work towards their BA in Journalism and Media Communication.

Tess Gallun is the instructor in charge of J-Doc productions. She brings roughly twenty years of first-hand experience into the classroom. Students are introduced to the many skills that a professional documentary storyteller needs to master out in the “real world.”  Most stories come from local non-profits, which allow students to establish meaningful and educational collaborations within their community. Topics tend to be timely and socially relevant, benefiting the story’s subjects, as well as the students.

Past documentaries have aired on Milwaukee Public television and have won top honors at professional and student film festivals. Upcoming projects are slated for broadcast and festival release.
